The postmen in Spain have an electrically assisted delivery cart in their office that are also electric scooters. These vehicles have been designed for Correos by the Mooevo company to facilitate the work of delivery professionals.
It is a model that uses a solution based on a self-balancing platform that incorporates the delivery cart. It uses an electric motor and, therefore, zero emissions. In folded mode, as a pedestrian, its speed is 5 km/h and when driving on public roads it reaches 15 km/h.
These devices have been manufactured by Mooevo, a Spanish startup that has developed a mobility solution to drive cart movement with minimal effort. The relationship with this company was born in CorreosLabs, Correos’ space to support innovation and entrepreneurship.
The use of these trolleys for pedestrian postmen is voluntary and prior to their use, the professionals receive a training course which, in the case of the many spanish towns, has been carried out by the town’s portfolio.
The objective of Correos with this pilot is to provide postmen and delivery bags on foot with a new element that facilitates last-mile delivery and that improves the service provided.
The assisted trolley reduces the effort required to move the trolley and, consequently, the fatigue. In addition, it reduces the transfer time to the delivery area. These assisted delivery carts are designed to be used in areas without much unevenness
